494 Wakota Bridge 494 Wakota Bridge

Mn/DOT awarded Lunda Construction a $60 million contract for the construction of the east bound 494 Wakota Bridge over the Mississippi River.  In February of 2008, J&L Steel Erectors was awarded the contract to provide the labor to install reinforcement steel and post-tensioning materials.  The bid was based on 6.7 million pounds of reinforcement steel.  The construction on the eastbound bridge is scheduled to begin in April of 2008 and be completed in September of 2010.

J&L Steel Erectors successfully completed the installation of reinforcement steel and post-tensioning materials for the westbound 494 Wakota Bridge over the Mississippi River and 14 approach bridges in November of 2006.  We installed over 11 million pounds of reinforcement steel in total.  J&L Steel Erectors was also responsible for installing the structural steel, pre-stress girders and ornamental rail on the project.
