On June 25, 2008 OSHA conducted a safety audit of J&L Steel Erectors at the site of the I-35W Bridge project.  Our crews received an outstanding score for safe work practices.  This is a remarkable achievement considering the crews have been working two twelve hour shifts, seven days a week in very crowded working conditions.  “I am very proud of the work our team has done.  They have remained focused and committed to our safety program in a very demanding environment”, said LouAnne Reger, CEO and President of J&L Steel.  Click here to view the audit report.

LouAnne Reger Featured in Minnesota Business
LouAnne Reger, CEO of J&L Steel Erectors, was featured in the June 2008 issue of Minnesota Business.  The article profiled Reger’s 30 year journey in building a successful steel erection business.  She began the business with her husband in 1977 with a $1,500 loan from her mother.  Reger chose to continue with the business after the couple divorced in 1996.

Her determination and drive are key factors in the successful growth of annual revenues consistently above $13 million.  She has earned the respect of her peers and customers as a woman in a male dominated industry.  “‘The contractors we work for don’t always like me,’ she says, ‘But the thing is, I challenge them.  I want them to be accountable.’”

Reger serves as a role model for other women in construction as a recognized leader in The Association of Women Contractors; an organization she helped found.

She is tapping into her 30 years of business expertise to successfully launch two new companies with her sons, Ascent Group and Ascent Contracting.  The affiliated companies provide commercial real estate and construction services.
